23 June 2015

Nikolaos Mavridis (UAE) and Katerina Pastra (CSRI) are the Editors of a new research topic in the open access Journal Frontiers, on Language and Cognition.

The Language and Cognition topic is primarily concerned with the what, how and why of the interaction of Language with Cognition (incl. Perception and Action) in Humans as well as Robots and other Embodied Agents. Members of this topic explore the cognitive, developmental and linguistic aspects of this interaction and develop computational models of the involved mechanisms. Some of the sub-topics involved include the symbol grounding problem, situation models, semantic language resources, categorization, compositionality, vision-language integration, social learning, grounding words in action, and their application to interactive robots and other forms of intelligent agents.
