Angelo Cangelosi and Katerina Pastra have been interviewed by the Horizon Magazine on language learning in robots. The corresponding article entitled 'Teaching robots to talk is child’s play' has now been published in the Focus section of the magazine. The article refers to the importance of language grounding (e.g. learning to count using fingers as children do) and the need for semantic and motoric abilities of a robot to be on par. It launches the idea of a robot kindergarten and hints that such endeavour to let robots learn as children do should focus on parallel language and motor development through shared, fundamental cognitive mechanisms.
